Originally conceived in the 1930's by Firearms Instructor, Special Agent (SA) "Bill" Nitschke, being a member of the FBI's "Possible Club" has been a distinction enjoyed by only a small percentage.  Nitschke was later involved in 1937 in the Bangor, Maine shootout with the Brady Gang.   You can read more about him in the Biography section of the "navigation" area.

Thanks to retired SA Walt Merritt (RIP), we now have a concise history of the Club, revealing its early beginnings, requirements and more.   This article,  submitted by SA Merritt comes from a 1977 internal FBI magazine known as "The Investigator" which still exists today.   The author of the internal article is not shown.
