Winstead (right) in 1970 at an Albuquerque, NM retired Agent's Society meet. Courtesy: Doug LatimerIn 2010, Mr. Doug Latimer furnished various original Winstead documents to me for inclusion here and examination for relevant content.   Mr. Latimer's father in law was FBI Special Agent, Charles Spann and after Spann's career with the FBI, he practiced law.  Spann became Winstead's attorney and at the time of Winstead's death, Spann handled the estate.

Doug Latimer, subsequent to Winstead's death, purchased Winstead's home in Albuquerque, NM area from Winstead's sister and many items were left in the home, these documents being some of them.

In addition to Winstead's "expense diaries" (discussed elsewhere) Mr. Latimer has furnished the original of Winstead's apparent personal weapons list which can be viewed at  the link below.  The comments at the bottom of the document are my own.

Neither myself nor the FBI is certain where these guns are now located and for historical reasons, we'd simply like to account for them if it's feasible.  Mr. Latimer believes these guns were sold through the estate, or some given to unknown museums.  We do know that some of Winstead's papers and more are at the Red River Museum in Sherman, Texas however a check there reveals they do not have any of his guns.

Perhaps you'll find some nugget of FBI or Winstead history here for yourself.  If you know the whereabouts of any of these guns, it would be appreciated if you'd contact me so we can account for them.  You can contact me direct at rypublish@roadrunner.com and if confidentiality is needed, we can oblige.

For information purposes, the "yellowing" of the paper was done with software in an effort to enhance the writings of the original document and has NO BEARING on the age of the paper

View/download the listing of Winstead's guns here.  The date of this document is unknown.  This is an image file.
